| I was thinking whether to
join this trip or wait until spring to go somewhere warm. The decision was
quick - China, again. I always wanted to visit this part of China because
of the breath taking scenery in Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. The name
Jiuzhaigou(Nine Villages Gully) derives its name from the nine
villages in the gully. The
area is well-known for it lakes, waterfall, rivers, snow caped mountain, scenery and lush green forests.
This trip was leaded by
Dennis Cox and the national guides from
Wild China. From Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong took a few hours of "High way" driving and I mean "HIGH" as approximately 10,000 feet above sea level. We went through roads with breath taking scenery and SHARP turns. For those afraid of height I recommend a double dose of valium, sleeping pill, a glass of red wine or adult diaper. The distance between Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong is about 140km apart. Wolong is the Panda Reserve area. We have been told that Panda's nick name is "Metal Eating Monster". In the old day when Pandas were roaming wild and abundant, they also came into villages to steal food. When nibbling food off human's kitchen is not enough, they took the "WOK" with them. Thus the rumor started. Emi mountain, one of the four famous Buddhism Religious sacred place. We switched to a smaller bus at the bottom of the mountain and boarded a cable car after a long drive up the zigzag mountain road. Because of the short stay up at the submit, everyone pack "light" that day. We all took along one day supply of underwear, warm cloths, personal hygiene items and the 50lbs camera gadget and you know how "light" it turned out to be. The rest of the luggage was left in the big tour bus's luggage compartment and hopping no one will break into the bus when the driver is sleeping. After getting off the cable car, checked in the hotel which is right besides the cable car station at the Golden Submit we were able to took a few shots of the "sea of cloud", scouting out the place for the morning sun rise photo session. Well, am I glad I took a few shots before sun went away. The morning sun rise photo session was a total write-off. All we saw that morning was, cloud, mist, drizzle, wet camera equipment and disappointed photographers. The rest of the trip - the Yangtze cruse, no sun, cool, overcast sky, again, the scenery was amazing. Don't believe me? Just click on the picture on your right and tour with me. Enjoy !
